Accra, Ghana – May 22, 2026 – The Ghanaian government has unequivocally reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a robust and resilient digital economy across Africa. This pledge was made at the 15th African Internet Governance Forum (AIGF) launch, where a key focus was placed on developing a unified African digital identity and infrastructure system. The initiative aims to bolster secure online transactions and significantly boost cross-border internet trade, aligning digital transformation with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) vision.

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, emphasized the critical synergy between Africa’s digital advancement and the ambitious goals of the AfCFTA during his address.
