Ralph Mupita, Group CEO and President of MTN, declared Africa is set to spearhead the next wave of global digital finance innovation. He made these remarks at the 3i Africa Summit in Accra, highlighting the continent’s rapid advancements in mobile money and digital financial services as a strong foundation for future growth.
Foundation for Advanced Digital Finance
Mupita explained that Africa is transitioning from basic mobile money services to more sophisticated digital finance offerings. This evolution is driven by increasing financial inclusion across the continent.
The next phase, he noted, will be characterized by app-based systems and technology-driven financial solutions. These will extend beyond simple payments to encompass digital credit, remittances, embedded finance, and cutting-edge innovations like AI and blockchain.
