Jandel Limited Marks 30 Years of Event Styling Excellence, Inspiring Resilience and Entrepreneurship in Ghana

Jandel Limited officially launched its 30th-anniversary celebrations on Friday, June 5, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The event honored three decades of leadership in Ghana’s event styling and floral design industry, simultaneously aiming to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs through its founder’s message of faith and perseverance.

A Legacy Forged in Faith and Determination

The milestone celebration brought together a distinguished assembly of government officials, traditional leaders, business executives, clients, and long-time partners. This gathering recognized Jandel’s remarkable growth from modest beginnings into a prominent and respected event brand within Ghana.

The evening commenced with a spiritual uplift, featuring songs of praise and worship led by gospel musician MOG Music, followed by a word of exhortation from Rev. Fr. Samuel Filton-Mensah Mensah. The venue itself was a testament to Jandel’s signature elegance, adorned with elaborate floral arrangements, sophisticated lighting, and curated displays that visually narrated the company’s 30-year journey.

Central to the event was the personal narrative shared by Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Madam Afi Amoro. She recounted the brand’s origins, emphasizing faith and determination as the foundational elements. “When I look at my life, every scar, every fall, and I am still here breathing, still finding my way, it can only be God,” Madam Amoro stated, reflecting on her personal journey.

Madam Amoro recalled the company’s inception thirty years prior, describing a young woman in her mother’s garden with little more than belief. “Thirty years ago, this journey began. A young woman in my mother’s garden believing that something beautiful could grow from seemingly something little. I didn’t have a business strategy or a grand plan. I just had faith and determination,” she shared.

She candidly spoke of periods marked by uncertainty and hardship. “There were times of tears and seasons of uncertainty when everything felt like it was slipping away. But through it all, God remained faithful,” Madam Amoro revealed.

Resilience as a Business Imperative

Her message deeply resonated with attendees, especially aspiring entrepreneurs and established business leaders who have faced their own adversities. For Madam Amoro, the anniversary transcends a mere corporate achievement.

“Tonight, we celebrate not just 30 years of Jandel, but 30 years of resilience. Thirty years of choosing to believe, especially in the storm,” she declared. She extended a message of hope to those currently facing challenges: “Let me speak to someone. If your story does not feel like a celebration, if this year has brought you more tears than laughter, if you have quietly wondered, ‘Is it over for me?’ let me assure you that it is not over until it is over.” This sentiment drew strong applause, underscoring the evening’s themes of gratitude and perseverance.

Transforming Ghana’s Events Landscape

Over the past three decades, Jandel has been instrumental in the evolution of Ghana’s event industry. The company helped transition what was once a largely informal sector into a more professional and recognized ecosystem.

When asked about the company’s evolution, Madam Amoro highlighted its transformation from a sole proprietorship to a respected entity. “What have these 30 years looked like? It has looked like growth—from one person to a formidable team driven by excellence,” she explained.

“It looks like thousands of events delivered, each one meaningful because at Jandel, there is no such thing as just an event. It is a test of creativity, agility and innovation to delight every client that comes our way,” Madam Amoro added. Jandel has become renowned for its work on corporate events, weddings, social functions, and large-scale décor projects.

Beyond its commercial success, Jandel is recognized for its annual ‘Light Up the City’ initiative. This project enhances Accra’s ambiance during the festive season, contributing to local tourism and community engagement.

A Call for Mentorship and Future Growth

The anniversary event was attended by notable figures, including Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, who served as Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries included Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Yussif Issaka Jajah, former Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Paramount Chief of Bongo, and former Secretary to the President, Mr. James Kwame Bebaako-Mensah.

During her address, Madam Amoro urged young entrepreneurs to remain steadfast in pursuing their aspirations despite inevitable setbacks. She also emphasized the crucial role of experienced generations in knowledge transfer.

“I also urged older generations to intentionally transfer their knowledge, experience and wisdom to younger people, arguing that mentorship and succession are essential for building sustainable businesses and stronger communities,” Madam Amoro stated, highlighting the importance of intergenerational support for business longevity and societal progress.

Looking Ahead

Jandel’s 30th-anniversary celebration not only marks a significant corporate milestone but also sets a precedent for future entrepreneurship in Ghana. The company’s journey underscores the power of resilience, faith, and strategic growth. As Jandel continues its operations, its focus on innovation and community engagement, particularly through initiatives like ‘Light Up the City,’ suggests a continued commitment to shaping Ghana’s event industry and inspiring its future leaders. The emphasis on mentorship also points towards a potential expansion of its influence beyond event styling, fostering a broader ecosystem of successful Ghanaian businesses.
