The request from the local Jewish community urged officials to replace West’s show with a performance that would emphasize music’s role as a unifying force. This plea came in the wake of West’s history of antisemitic, racist, and pro-Nazi remarks, which have led to similar bans and cancellations internationally, including being barred from entering the UK.

The two concerts were slated to take place on July 17 and 18 at Reggio Emilia’s RFC Arena. West was expected to perform alongside Scott and other artists like The Chainsmokers, Rita Ora, and Swedish House Mafia.
