Ghanaian Think Tank Demands South African Firms Fund Citizen Evacuations Amid Afrophobic Attacks

Accra, Ghana – May 30, 2026 – Vice President of policy think tank IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has called for major South African multinational corporations operating in Ghana to financially contribute to the evacuation of Ghanaian citizens facing afrophobic attacks in South Africa. Bentil argued on TV3 that these profit-generating entities should share the burden of emergency repatriations, currently borne by the Ghanaian state.

Corporate Responsibility and Moral Imperative

Bentil asserted that companies profiting significantly from integrated African markets have a moral and structural obligation to publicly condemn violence against fellow Africans. He specifically targeted South African retail, telecommunication, and financial giants operating across the continent.
