Pulse Oximeter Donation Boosts Free Primary Healthcare Initiative

The Ministry of Health (MoH) in Ghana has received a significant donation of advanced bedside pulse oximeters, valued at over $100,000, from WAMPHARMA. This contribution is set to bolster the Government’s Free Primary Healthcare initiative, aiming to significantly improve child healthcare delivery and strengthen primary healthcare services nationwide. The handover ceremony, marked by expressions of gratitude and a shared vision for enhanced healthcare access, took place recently at the Ministry of Health.

Strengthening Primary Healthcare Access

David Sam, WAMPHARMA’s Director of Partnerships and Sales for West Africa, presented the donation, highlighting that the contribution stems from collaborative discussions with Masimo. These discussions focused on identifying effective ways to support Ghana’s flagship healthcare program and expand access to quality medical care for its citizens.

The pulse oximeters are sophisticated medical devices crucial for monitoring oxygen saturation levels in the blood and pulse rate. Their deployment in primary healthcare settings is expected to aid in the early detection of respiratory distress and other critical conditions, particularly in children.

A Vote of Confidence in National Health Policy

Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, formally received the equipment on behalf of the Government. He conveyed sincere gratitude to WAMPHARMA, characterizing the donation as a powerful endorsement of the Free Primary Healthcare policy. The Minister emphasized the policy’s transformative potential for healthcare delivery across Ghana.
