Accra, Ghana – Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh announced Monday that all 13,500 nurses recruited into the health sector are now receiving their salaries, with outstanding arrears slated for full payment by July. This resolution addresses a significant challenge that emerged shortly after the Minister assumed office, impacting a large cohort of newly employed healthcare professionals.
Addressing a Critical Payroll Bottleneck
The delayed payment of salaries for approximately 13,500 nurses had become a pressing issue, causing widespread concern and prompting protests from affected healthcare workers. Minister Akandoh stated on JoyNews’ AM Show that rectifying this situation was an immediate priority upon his assumption of duty.
