Kumasi Academy Alumni Back School Management on WASSCE Integrity Measures Amid Arson Threats

The Kumasi Academy Past Students Association (KAPSA), known globally as Akunini Global, has publicly endorsed the protective measures implemented by Kumasi Academy’s management and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure the integrity of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). This declaration follows recent disturbances at the school, which led to police intervention and the arrest of four final-year students accused of making threats against school property.

Upholding School Values

In a statement released on Friday, June 5, 2026, the alumni association urged students to adhere to the principles of discipline and responsibility that have characterized Kumasi Academy for over seven decades.

The statement, co-signed by Akunini Global’s National President, Harry Boakye, and General Secretary, Elder Ebenezer Teitey Sackey, emphasized that discipline is a cornerstone for maintaining the institution’s legacy of academic excellence and character development.

While acknowledging that differing views might exist concerning the specific disciplinary arrangements during the examinations, the association firmly stated that threats of violence are never justifiable.
