Dr. Lucy Agyepong Honored at 2026 Ghana Women of the Year Awards for Educational Excellence

Dr. Lucy Agyepong, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Academic City University, received the Excellence in Education Award at the 2026 Ghana Women of the Year Honours in Accra, Ghana. The award recognizes her significant contributions to higher education, institutional development, and youth empowerment across the nation.

Recognition for Impact in Education

Dr. Agyepong was one of twelve distinguished women celebrated for their achievements in various sectors, including governance, public service, business, humanitarian work, creative arts, and entrepreneurship. The Ghana Women of the Year Honours aim to highlight Ghanaian women whose leadership, innovation, and service are instrumental in shaping industries, influencing communities, and driving national development.

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Agyepong emphasized the transformative power of education. “Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and building prosperous societies,” she stated.

Other Distinguished Awardees

The ceremony also celebrated other prominent women for their exceptional contributions. Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Nana Oye Bampoe Addo was honored for Excellence in Governance.

Matilda Asante-Asiedu was named Corporate Personality of the Year. COP Lydia Yaako Donkor received the Excellence in Public Service Award, and filmmaker Scilla Owusu was recognized for Excellence in Creative Arts.

Former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, was presented with a Special Recognition Honour for her pioneering leadership and advocacy for women’s empowerment throughout Africa.
