Lawra MP Tackles Examination Malpractice, Boosts Candidate Morale

Lawra, Ghana – Bede A. Ziedeng, the Member of Parliament for Lawra, visited examination centers on Monday to address 994 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates across three locations in the Lawra Municipality. Ziedeng urged students to shun examination malpractice and assured them of support, including the provision of daily hot meals and mathematical sets, aiming to foster an environment of integrity and boost morale.

Context: The Crucial BECE Examination

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is a pivotal national examination administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). It serves as the primary gateway for students completing Junior High School (JHS) to gain admission into Senior High Schools (SHS) and technical institutions across Ghana.

The integrity of the BECE is paramount, as any form of malpractice can lead to the cancellation of results, significantly impacting students’ educational trajectories. This year, 994 candidates in the Lawra Municipality are undertaking the examination, highlighting the scale of the event within the region.

MP’s Intervention and Support Initiatives

During his tour, MP Bede A. Ziedeng directly engaged with 342 candidates at the Eremon examination center. He delivered a strong message against cheating and any form of examination malpractice, emphasizing that success is achievable through honest preparation and hard work.
