The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has publicly urged President John Mahama and Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to expedite the opening of a newly constructed specialist children’s hospital in his constituency. The call comes amidst growing frustration over the facility’s prolonged closure, despite being fully operational and ready for use, as stated by the MP on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Tuesday, May 5.
Urgent Need for Operationalization
Mr. Shaib highlighted the critical impact of the hospital’s inactivity, emphasizing that it deprives local residents, particularly children, of essential healthcare services. The continued delay also exacerbates unemployment among trained medical professionals who could be serving the community.
