A 32-year-old enrolled nurse, Nafisa Adama, was killed on Tuesday, May 12, in a road accident while transporting essential medical supplies from Gwollu to the Kusali CHPS Compound in the Sissala West District. The incident occurred around 16:00 GMT as she was returning to her community via motorbike, carrying much-needed drugs and logistics.

Madam Nafisa Adama was en route to Kusali, a community approximately 15 kilometers from the district capital Gwollu. She had just collected vital medical supplies from Gwollu to serve her community. Her journey back was tragically cut short by severe weather conditions.
Accident Details and Weather Impact
According to Rauf Bawa Basugu, the Sissala West District Health Information Officer, the accident happened during a period of intense wind and heavy rainfall. These adverse weather conditions made travel hazardous midway through her journey.
While navigating the deteriorating weather, the rider of a motor tricycle traveling in the opposite direction reportedly lost control. The tricycle then collided head-on with Madam Nafisa’s motorbike, which was laden with containers of medicine.
Immediate Aftermath and Fatal Outcome
Madam Nafisa sustained critical injuries from the collision. She was promptly transported for emergency medical treatment but was unfortunately pronounced dead about an hour later.
The loss is particularly poignant as Madam Nafisa was a mother of two and had recently married just two weeks prior to the accident. Her death has sent shockwaves through the Ghana Health Service administration.
