Seven passengers were rescued by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) following a fatal road accident involving a commercial vehicle near Peki-Tsiame in the Volta Region on Thursday, May 21, 2026. A male pedestrian tragically lost his life in the incident.

Emergency services received a distress call about the crash near the Hospital Junction along the Peki–Asikuma road. Personnel from the Peki Fire Station swiftly responded to the scene.
Firefighters immediately commenced rescue operations. The accident involved a Hyundai H200 commercial vehicle, registered as GT 3309-14. The vehicle was traveling from Kpeve towards Asikuma with seven occupants.
