Over 100 New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station executives, electoral area officers, and constituency functionaries in the Yendi Constituency have formally petitioned the party’s General Secretary in Accra. The petition, submitted recently, demands an urgent audit of internal party forms, alleging that documents originally submitted to confirm unopposed winners have been altered, leading to discrepancies and potential exclusion of endorsed candidates.
Internal Party Exercise Sparks Discontent
The controversy stems from an ongoing internal party exercise aimed at finalizing leadership positions within the Yendi Constituency. According to the petitioners, elections were not conducted in numerous electoral areas and polling stations because the affected executives had already been endorsed to serve unopposed.
Forms were reportedly filled out and submitted to the Electoral Area Committees, which then forwarded them for official summary sheets. These sheets were intended to confirm the unopposed status of the designated executives. However, the aggrieved members claim that the final summary documents being used by the Regional Representative do not accurately reflect the original submissions.
