Sixteen people have been arrested in Damongo, the capital of the Savannah Region, for their suspected involvement in illicit drug activities.
The arrests were made during a joint operation by the Ghana Police Service and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), as part of efforts to combat the rising threat of drug abuse and trafficking in the area.
Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, speaking on the exercise, said the operation is part of a broader campaign to tackle drug-related crimes in the region.
“All those arrested will be tested, processed, and brought before the court. We will ensure that the law takes its full course,” he stated.
The Minister also appealed to parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s behavior and upbringing to help prevent their involvement in such harmful activities.
