Ghana's Economic Performance Under Scrutiny: NPP Stalwart Defends Predecessor's Record

Nhyiaeso MP and former Deputy Finance Minister, Stephen Amoah, stated this week that while current Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson is performing adequately, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration has not yet demonstrated a superior economic performance compared to the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. Dr. Amoah asserted that the current government inherited an economy that had already begun a recovery process under an IMF-supported program initiated by the NPP administration.

Economic Recovery Analogy

Dr. Amoah utilized a medical analogy to explain his position. He suggested that the previous government had stabilized the economy before exiting office, though lingering effects of an earlier crisis were still apparent. He likened the situation to a patient recovering from a severe infection.
