Deloitte Ghana Invests in Future Leaders with Large-Scale Student Empowerment Programme

Deloitte Ghana engaged over 4,500 senior high school students across three major Accra schools on May 19th, 2026, through its annual ‘Volunteer Day’ initiative. The programme focused on empowering young people with essential skills in mentorship, financial literacy, and personal development to prepare them for future success.

The initiative saw Deloitte professionals dedicate their time to interacting with students at Achimota School, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), and Accra Girls’ Senior High School. These interactions aimed to foster meaningful conversations about growth, leadership, and readiness for the evolving professional landscape.

Context of Corporate Volunteerism

Deloitte’s ‘Volunteer Day’ is a continent-wide effort, with Ghana’s event being a significant part of this annual commitment. The programme aligns with Deloitte’s broader purpose of making a positive impact on communities, particularly by investing in the next generation.

Abena Biney, the Chief Sustainability Officer of Deloitte West Africa, highlighted the firm’s dedication to community contribution beyond its core business services. She mentioned Deloitte’s Executive Committee introduced a policy allowing employees up to 40 hours annually for volunteer work, redefining corporate volunteerism across Africa.

Empowerment Through Engagement

The day began with opening ceremonies at each participating school. Deloitte representatives emphasized the critical role of mentorship, continuous learning, and skill development in building successful careers. Speakers underscored how guidance, discipline, and proactive personal growth are vital for young individuals to navigate an increasingly competitive global environment and seize opportunities.

Following the ceremonies, breakout sessions and classroom engagements provided platforms for interactive discussions. Deloitte volunteers shared insights on crucial topics such as financial literacy, building self-confidence, career planning, and making responsible life choices.
