Six Arrested in Fatal Shooting at Illegal Mining Site in Western Region

The Ghana Police Service has apprehended six individuals, including three Chinese nationals, in connection with a fatal shooting at an illegal mining site in Gwira Ampansie, Nzema East District, Western Region. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, May 24, resulted in the death of 45-year-old Angu Mensah, also known as Abusuapanyi, following a reported misunderstanding at the galamsey operation.

Investigation Underway Following Fatal Incident

According to a statement from the Western Regional Police Command, officers responded to a distress call about the shooting incident at approximately 5:00 PM on Sunday. A team, including personnel from the Axim police and the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate, swiftly proceeded to the scene.
