Accra, Ghana will host the eighth edition of the Spanish gastronomic and trade exhibition, “Taste Spain Accra,” on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The event, organized by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Accra with support from ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, aims to foster connections between Ghanaian food and wine professionals and Spanish exporters and distributors.
Bridging Markets Through Gastronomy
Taste Spain Accra serves as a crucial platform for Spanish food and beverage companies to engage with Ghanaian importers, distributors, hospitality professionals, and other key sector players. This year’s edition will feature eight Spanish companies showcasing premium products and exploring new business avenues in the Ghanaian market. Additionally, three Ghanaian companies already distributing Spanish products will participate, highlighting the existing commercial relationships.
The exhibition is designed to be a dynamic meeting point, facilitating the discovery of Spanish products and the development of new commercial partnerships. Beyond the product showcase, the event will include tasting sessions and networking opportunities, specifically tailored to strengthen the commercial ties between Spanish producers and the Ghanaian market.
Growing Spanish Presence in Ghana
Yann Emonet Ripoll, Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Accra, emphasized the growing international appeal of Spanish gastronomy and the significant role of Spanish wine. “Spain is currently ranked as the third largest exporter of wine to Ghana, and we hope to improve on this with this year’s event expanding to include a wider selection of Spanish beverages, including sparkling wines, juices, and food products,” Ripoll stated.
The event’s expansion reflects the robust and growing trade relationship between Spain and Ghana. Recent years have seen a positive trade balance for Ghana, with exports to Spain exceeding €273 million, while Spanish exports to Ghana reached €267 million, marking a significant 26% increase compared to 2024.
Agri-Food Sector Leads the Way
The growth in Spanish agri-food exports to Ghana has been particularly noteworthy. These exports surged from €23.5 million in 2024 to over €50.2 million in 2025, an increase of more than 50%. The agri-food sector now accounts for nearly 20% of total Spanish exports to Ghana, solidifying its position as a key area of interest for Ghanaian importers.
“We are very pleased to bring Taste Spain back to Ghana with renewed enthusiasm after the last edition in 2022,” Ripoll added. “Over the years, the event has become an important platform for connecting Spanish producers with Ghanaian professionals and strengthening commercial ties between both markets.”
While wine remains a flagship Spanish export, the inclusion of a broader range of Spanish food products and beverages in this year’s Taste Spain Accra signifies a commitment to presenting the full spectrum of Spain’s gastronomic excellence. The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Accra continues to champion initiatives like Taste Spain Accra, reinforcing its status as Ghana’s premier platform for Spanish food and beverage products.
Future Outlook
As Taste Spain Accra 2026 unfolds, its success will likely influence future trade strategies, potentially leading to increased diversification of Spanish exports beyond wine and a deeper integration of Spanish culinary products into the Ghanaian market. The event’s continued growth suggests a promising future for bilateral trade in the food and beverage sector, with potential for further expansion and collaboration between Spanish producers and Ghanaian businesses.
