GES Cracks Down on Unauthorised School Fees, Reaffirms Free SHS Commitment

The Ghana Education Service (GES) issued a stern warning on Wednesday, May 6, to all schools nationwide, prohibiting the unauthorised collection of any fees from students or parents. The Service explicitly stated that no institution has received permission to charge levies, urging the public to disregard any reports suggesting otherwise.

This directive arrives amidst escalating concerns over alleged unauthorized fee collection, particularly claims of schools imposing feeding fees. The GES has labelled these reports as misleading and stressed that any institution charging fees, even under the guise of feeding, is acting unlawfully.
