Former Attorney-General Godfred Dame has publicly accused Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem Sai of misleading the public regarding legal access for former National Food Buffer Stock Company CEO Abdul-Wahab Hanan, who was recently re-arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The dispute centers on whether Hanan’s legal team was granted access to their client during his detention.

“It’s untrue. The lawyers from our office were there. It started on Tuesday; the lawyers were there for a long while and continued to yesterday, but were denied access,” Mr. Dame stated, directly refuting claims made by Deputy AG Srem Sai.
He further elaborated that while food was permitted to be delivered to Mr. Hanan during this period, a lawyer attempting to accompany the delivery and meet with the client was prevented from doing so. This highlights a significant procedural disagreement concerning the rights of a detained individual to legal counsel.
