Accra, Ghana – May 8, 2026 – The Ministry of Energy and Green Transitions, in collaboration with the Energy Commission and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), is set to operationalize a new control and command centre designed to significantly reduce response times to power-related issues across Ghana. The initiative, announced by Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, John Abdulai Jinapor, aims to leverage modern technology to improve the efficiency and reliability of the nation’s energy sector.
Enhancing Response and Communication
The newly established centre will act as a central hub for monitoring and coordinating the power distribution network. It is equipped to harness advanced technology, enabling communication through various channels including a dedicated short code, a phone line, and social media platforms. This multi-channel approach is intended to make it easier for the public to report faults and service disruptions.
During a visit to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) regional office in the Ashanti Region on Friday, May 8, 2026, Minister Jinapor expressed confidence in the centre’s potential. He highlighted that the initiative would streamline the reporting process and expedite resolutions for power outages and other challenges.
