Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor announced this development during a working visit to Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) staff in Kumasi on Friday, May 8, 2026, highlighting the strategic importance of the city for national industrial growth and energy security.

The ambitious plan involves several key power generation projects that will substantially increase electricity supply. These investments are a cornerstone of the government’s strategy to build a robust and future-proof electricity network designed to propel economic transformation across Ghana.
