Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Tennis Federation is facing a severe funding crisis that jeopardizes the nation’s participation in crucial international tournaments, including the Davis Cup in Kenya and the Billie Jean King Cup in Botswana. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee and the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, has voiced urgent concerns over the financial challenges.
Funding Shortfalls Imperil Key Competitions
Mr. Assafuah highlighted that the lack of adequate financial resources directly impacts Ghana’s ability to prepare for and compete in these prestigious events. The Davis Cup tie is scheduled for June in Kenya, followed by the Billie Jean King Cup in Gaborone, Botswana, in July.
