NPP Polling Station Elections Under Scrutiny Amidst Calls for Electoral Reform

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership to overhaul its internal polling station election processes. The call, made via a Facebook post on Monday, May 11, targets the current practice of allowing constituency executives and Members of Parliament (MPs) to oversee these crucial elections, a system Ofosu Nkansah argues is ripe for manipulation due to inherent conflicts of interest.

Concerns Over Conflicts of Interest

Ofosu Nkansah contends that individuals seeking re-election or those with direct political stakes in the outcome should be recused from supervising polling station elections. He highlighted the inherent unfairness when a constituency secretary, who is himself a candidate for re-election, is tasked with managing an election that directly impacts his political future.
