NSB Ex-Director Trial: Witness Affirms GH¢7.2 Million Transfer to Personal Account

An Accra High Court heard on Thursday, May 14, that a GH¢7.2 million transfer, central to the trial of former National Signals Bureau (NSB) boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene, was deposited into the personal account of the NSB Director, not the institution’s general account. This assertion came from the third prosecution witness, Mildred Donkor, during cross-examination.

The trial involves Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela Boateng, and Advantage Solutions Limited, who face allegations of misappropriating GH¢49 million. This sum was reportedly earmarked for the procurement of government cybersecurity software.

Context of the Allegations

The prosecution contends that the significant sum of GH¢49 million was allegedly siphoned off through a complex web of transactions involving various companies. Ultimately, the funds are said to have landed in the accounts of Advantage Solutions Limited.

Further allegations suggest that these funds were subsequently utilized to acquire valuable assets, including properties located in Accra, Kumasi, and even London, indicating a potential pattern of illicit financial activity and asset accumulation.

Cross-Examination and Witness Testimony

During the court proceedings on May 14, defense counsel Samuel Atta Akyea rigorously questioned witness Mildred Donkor. The focus of his cross-examination revolved around bank statements presented as evidence.

Atta Akyea sought to clarify whether the substantial GH¢7.2 million transfer was directed to the official National Signals Bureau account or to the personal bank account of the then-Director.

The witness, Mildred Donkor, remained steadfast in her assertion, repeatedly confirming that the lodgement was made to the Director’s personal account, as she had previously stated.
