Health Ministry Launches Volunteer Program to Bolster Rural Healthcare

The Ministry of Health is launching a new volunteer program targeting over 6,000 unemployed health graduates. This initiative, announced on Monday, May 18, in Accra, aims to strengthen healthcare delivery in rural and underserved communities across the nation by addressing critical staffing shortages. The program will prioritize health professionals who completed their training from 2022 onwards and were not included in the recent recruitment of 2021 health staff.

Addressing Healthcare Gaps

Frederick Mensah-Acheampong, Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Health, explained the program’s objectives during a press conference. He stated that the volunteer initiative is a key component of the Ministry’s broader strategy to improve healthcare access in deprived areas.
