Four people have died and at least 30 have been injured during nationwide transport strikes and protests in Kenya, sparked by record-high fuel prices. The unrest, which began recently, has paralyzed transportation in the capital, Nairobi, leaving thousands of commuters stranded and prompting some businesses and schools to close.
Nationwide Disruption and Casualties
Interior Minister Kipchumba Murkomen reported that 348 individuals were arrested amidst the demonstrations. Protesters have been actively blocking roads and setting up burning barricades, significantly disrupting daily life. The situation escalated as police deployed tear gas to disperse crowds in various parts of Nairobi and other regions.
