The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has declared youth unemployment as the most significant challenge facing the current government. He emphasized that the public sector alone cannot accommodate the vast number of young individuals seeking employment, during the NDC’s Thank You Tour in Tolon. This statement highlights a critical issue demanding innovative solutions beyond traditional recruitment.
Shifting Focus from Public Sector Recruitment
Mr. Asiedu Nketia articulated that a sustainable approach to job creation necessitates a greater emphasis on skills development and vocational training. He cautioned against an over-reliance on recruitment into state institutions like the Police Service, Army, Fire Service, Immigration, and Customs.
