Accra, Ghana – Passengers passing through Accra International Airport will no longer need to remove their shoes and belts for security screening starting in August, as the government introduces advanced technology to streamline operations and enhance the travel experience. This significant shift was announced by President John Dramani Mahama, who stated that new screening equipment is being installed to bolster aviation security while reducing passenger inconvenience.
Modernization Drive for Aviation Hub Status
The implementation of this new security technology is part of a broader strategy to position Ghana as a premier aviation and travel hub within the West African subregion. President Mahama made the announcement on Monday during the launch of Ghana’s new electronic visa (E-visa) system at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City.
