Francis Senanu Dekutse, Executive Director of the Volta Corridor Investment Centre (VCIC), recently led a significant initiative, distributing 500 bags of fertilizer to farmers in the Keta Municipality, reinforcing the VCIC’s commitment to empowering women in agriculture and boosting local food production.
Empowering Agricultural Stakeholders
The intervention, spearheaded by the VCIC, aims to provide crucial support to local farmers, enhance food security, and actively encourage greater participation from women in both farming and agribusiness sectors within the Keta Municipality.
During the distribution event, Mr. Dekutse lauded the perseverance, dedication, and increasing impact of women in transforming the agricultural landscape. He highlighted their engagement not only in traditional crop cultivation but also in burgeoning sectors like fishing, fish farming, poultry, and piggery.
Recognizing Untapped Potential
Mr. Dekutse noted the substantial turnout and enthusiasm observed during community engagements, particularly in areas like Hatorgodo. This strong participation, he stated, underscores the significant, yet often untapped, potential that exists among women farmers and agribusiness operators.
