Accra, Ghana – Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has issued a strong call for the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to decentralize its operations, arguing that its current concentration in the capital city hinders its effectiveness in combating corruption across Ghana. Speaking on Tuesday, Dafeamekpor emphasized that the OSP must establish a presence in districts nationwide to address deeply entrenched corruption.
Call for Decentralization
Dafeamekpor, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, stated that the OSP cannot effectively tackle corruption by remaining solely within Accra. He believes that expanding the OSP’s reach to district levels is crucial for its success.
Responding to criticisms about the OSP’s performance relative to its budget, the Majority Chief Whip acknowledged the President’s appeal for patience with the institution. However, he reiterated his belief that the OSP has the potential to perform better.
