Lawmaker Criticizes OSP's Accra-Centric Approach, Calls for Nationwide Expansion

Accra, Ghana – Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has strongly criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for concentrating its anti-corruption efforts solely within the capital, Accra, and Tema. He argued on Tuesday that this limited geographical focus prevents the OSP from effectively combating widespread corruption across Ghana’s regions and districts.

Calls for Decentralized Operations

Speaking on the program PM Express, Mr. Dafeamekpor reiterated his concerns, stating that crime and financial misconduct are not confined to metropolitan areas. He emphasized that the OSP’s mandate, as outlined in the OSP Act, includes establishing regional offices to facilitate a more comprehensive approach to tackling corruption.
