Virginia State Police arrested and charged Jing S Dong, the driver of a tour bus involved in a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 on Friday morning. Dong faces two counts of involuntary manslaughter, with additional charges pending, following an incident that killed at least five people and injured dozens more near a work zone.

The crash occurred when Dong allegedly “failed to slow for traffic” while approaching a work zone on I-95. According to Virginia prosecutor Eric Olsen, evidence suggests the tour bus was traveling at a “high rate of speed” before striking a Chevrolet Suburban. Another victim, 25-year-old Priscilla Mafalda, was a passenger in the Suburban that was initially struck by the bus.
The E&P Travel bus was traveling from New York to North Carolina when the collision occurred. The tragic event sent approximately 44 individuals to area hospitals, with three sustaining critical injuries, according to state police reports.
