Accra, Ghana – Ten years after the devastating June 3 fire and flood disaster claimed over 150 lives and injured more than 200 people, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has reiterated its commitment to preventing a recurrence. The AMA expressed deep sympathy for the victims, acknowledging the enduring physical, emotional, and economic scars left by the tragedy that occurred at the GOIL filling station near Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
A Decade of Lingering Scars
The June 3, 2014, disaster remains a painful memory for many Ghanaians. The confluence of torrential rains and a fire at a fuel station resulted in a catastrophic loss of life and widespread destruction. Many survivors continue to grapple with the aftermath, awaiting justice and comprehensive support.
