Prince Debrah Jnr., a standout participant from the 2021 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ), has successfully graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. The ceremony, marking the culmination of his academic journey, took place on May 29, 2026, at Killian Court on the MIT campus.
A Trajectory of Academic Excellence
Debrah’s achievement at MIT, one of the world’s foremost institutions for science and technology, builds upon a consistent record of academic success. His national recognition began during the 2021 NSMQ, where he represented Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC-Legon). The final match, a nail-biting contest against Prempeh College, is etched in the memory of many followers of the competition.
His educational journey commenced at The Light Academy in Adenta, where he demonstrated early leadership as School Prefect. His exceptional performance in the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) saw him ranked as the second-best candidate in the Adenta District.
PRESEC-Legon and the Path to MIT
Following his strong BECE results, Debrah secured admission to his preferred high school, PRESEC-Legon. During his tenure, he not only excelled academically but also took on leadership roles, including serving as President of the school’s Math and Science Club. His participation in the 2022 Sharks Quiz further highlighted his prowess in academic competitions.
In 2022, Debrah garnered significant attention for receiving admission offers from 14 top-tier universities in the United States. After careful consideration, he opted for MIT, a decision that underscored his ambition in the fields of science and technology.
