Accra, Ghana & Washington D.C., USA – Officials from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Ghana met with Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, recently in Washington D.C. to discuss strategies for boosting investment in Ghana’s capital markets and increasing diaspora involvement in the nation’s economic development.
Deepening Investor Confidence and Diaspora Engagement
The high-level discussions centered on identifying and promoting investment opportunities within the Ghana Stock Exchange. Key topics included Ghana’s current macroeconomic landscape and initiatives to bolster investor confidence in the country’s regulated financial instruments.
Mensah Thompson, Deputy Director-General of the SEC, led the Ghanaian delegation. He presented a positive outlook on the Ghana Stock Exchange, citing strong performance indicators. Thompson highlighted that improving economic stability, a downward trend in inflation, and decreasing interest rates have collectively created an appealing environment for potential investors.
