Accra, Ghana – May 16, 2024 – The Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Fund (SIF), Abass Nurudeen, has strongly refuted claims made by former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia that free speech and democratic rights are being suppressed under President John Dramani Mahama’s government. The controversy arises from recent statements by opposition figures, including Dr. Bawumia, who is also the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 elections. These statements suggest a deterioration of democratic freedoms and a chilling effect on public discourse under the current administration.

SIF CEO’s Rebuttal
