Despite his birthplace and professional career in Austria, Owusu emphasized the consistent Ghanaian influence throughout his upbringing. His parents ensured he received a Ghanaian education, fostering a strong connection to his heritage.
Speaking to JoySports journalist Joseph Ayinga-Walter, the 22-year-old stated that playing for the Black Stars has been a childhood dream. He articulated that the significance extends far beyond the sport itself.
