Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, an aspiring Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, has issued a fervent call for national unity to combat the escalating threat of illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey. Speaking on Sunday, May 10, during a Mother’s Day observance at Heaven Seekers Ministry, Mr. Appiah characterized the environmental devastation wrought by galamsey as a national emergency demanding immediate and collective action.
National Emergency Beyond Politics
Mr. Appiah emphasized that the severe environmental consequences of galamsey transcend political affiliations, posing a significant risk to Ghana’s future if left unchecked. He stressed the critical need to shift the narrative from a partisan contest to a shared national responsibility.
