Accra, Ghana – May 27 – Lawyer and Executive Director of Lands and Mines Watch Ghana, Kwame Owusu Danso, has urged Ghana’s Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, to prioritize consumer protection in the rapidly expanding digital and telecommunications sector. Danso’s call comes in the wake of public debate surrounding the Bank of Ghana’s suspension of a proposed 0.75% charge on direct wallet-to-bank transfers.
Focus on the Consumer
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, May 27, Mr. Danso emphasized the need for the Communications Minister to remain actively engaged in safeguarding the interests of ordinary Ghanaians utilizing digital financial services.
