Accra, Ghana – The Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, stated on Wednesday that no one has denied the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hannan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, access to his legal counsel following his re-arrest. Aludiba and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, were discharged by an Accra High Court earlier in the week.
Context of the Discharge and Re-arrest
The discharge of Aludiba and his wife came after the Deputy Attorney General’s office applied for their release. Subsequently, the former NAFCO boss was taken to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for interrogation.
Dr. Srem-Sai explained that Aludiba was expected to cooperate with EOCO for immediate interrogation and subsequent release. However, reports indicate that Aludiba fell ill during this period and required hospitalization.
Dispute Over Legal Representation and Fresh Evidence
A point of contention has emerged regarding Aludiba’s legal representation. Dr. Srem-Sai criticized the former Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, who is representing Aludiba, for engaging in radio and television programs instead of accompanying his client for interrogation.
