ECG Schedules Major Maintenance, Power Disruptions Expected in Accra, Ashanti, and Tema Regions

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned maintenance exercises across the Accra East, Ashanti, and Tema Regions for Wednesday, May 27th. These exercises will result in temporary power disruptions, with durations ranging from four to seven hours, impacting numerous residential and commercial areas.

The maintenance is part of ECG’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its service delivery and ensuring the reliability of the power network. The company has advised customers in the affected areas to prepare for the outages and make necessary arrangements for power-dependent activities.

Accra East Region Outage Details

In the Accra East Region, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, an eight-hour period. This significant shutdown will affect North Dzorwulu, parts of GIMPA, New England, Obediben, Dzorwulu, and their surrounding vicinities. The notice was initially issued on Friday, May 22nd, to provide advance warning to customers.

Ashanti Region Power Interruptions

The Ashanti Region will experience two separate power outages on the same day. The first disruption is scheduled from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, a four-hour window, impacting Asewase town, Aboabo Number One and Number Two, Golden Temple, Asewase Renault, and nearby areas. The second outage in the Ashanti Region will be more extensive, running from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This longer shutdown will affect the Tech Commercial area, IDL, the Tech hospital area, the KNUST Senior High School area, and adjacent communities. These notices were released over the weekend of May 23rd and 24th.

Tema Region Extensive Maintenance

The Tema Region faces a six-hour power disruption from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The affected areas are particularly widespread and include critical infrastructure and residential zones. Key locations impacted are the Seawater Desalination Plant, Maranatha, Buade, Glow Lamp, Frimpongmaa Estates, Abrantie, Dan Adams, Coastal Estates, Basket, GCB Training School, Ataa Adama, Royal Ravico, Junction Mall, and Regimanuel Estates.

Additionally, Parakuo Estates, Queensland International School, Kpoo Keke, Best Western Premier Hotel, and Leisure Hours Hotel will be without power. Large parts of Nungua, encompassing Zongo, Township, Traditional Council, Polyclinic, and the Secondary School, are also on the list. Further affected areas include the Kpeshie Divisional Police Headquarters, Coco Beach, Main 1, Father’s Hotel, C5, and surrounding vicinities.
