NanaBanyin Dadson, Head of the Department of Media and Journalism at the African University of Communications and Business (AUCB), has joined the Ghana Stammerers Association to advocate for children who stammer, transforming his personal experience with the condition into a powerful voice for awareness and understanding, particularly within educational settings. He shared his journey on Joy FM’s Personality Profile programme, highlighting the neurological basis of stammering and the critical need for patience and support, especially for young learners.
Understanding Stammering: A Neurological Condition
Mr. Dadson emphasized that stammering is not a psychological issue or a matter of willpower, but a neurological condition originating in the brain. This understanding is crucial, he explained, as it refutes the misconception that stammering can be easily overcome through simple effort or remedies.
