Empowering Futures: Nhyira Charities Foundation Launches Career Guidance Initiative for JHS Finalists

The Nhyira Charities Foundation (NCF) LBG has marked the commencement of its 2026 activities with a significant and impactful event, the maiden Career Guidance & Fair 2026. Held at the Presbyterian Church in Asante Mampong, this flagship program brought together over a thousand final-year Junior High School (JHS) students on the cusp of their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The initiative aimed to equip these young minds with essential knowledge and guidance, setting a strong foundation for their future academic and career trajectories.

A Commitment to Early Empowerment

This event serves as a powerful reaffirmation of the NCF’s core mission: to empower young individuals through early guidance, practical exposure, and fostering informed decision-making. The Foundation operates with a broader vision, striving to cultivate a future where the youth are not only prepared for their own success but are also equipped to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the nation at large. By investing in the foundational years of education, NCF seeks to unlock potential and steer students towards paths that align with their strengths and the evolving needs of society.

Navigating Examinations and Career Horizons

The program featured insightful sessions designed to address the immediate challenges and future aspirations of the students. Ms. Vincentia Teye led a crucial session on effective examination preparation, sharing practical techniques for studying, time management, and building confidence for the final exams. Her emphasis on consistency and discipline resonated with the students, offering them tangible tools for success in the BECE. Beyond exam strategies, the fair delved into the critical realm of career pathways. Samuel Addai, representing Mr. Mahama, President of PUSAG, provided valuable guidance on selecting courses that align with students’ strengths and future ambitions. He specifically highlighted the burgeoning importance of careers in Science and Engineering, underscoring their growing relevance in the modern world.

The Role of TVET and STEM in National Development

Further enriching the discourse on future opportunities, Dr. Patrick Essien illuminated the vital role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in driving Ghana’s economic growth. He encouraged the young participants to view these fields not just as alternative options, but as dynamic, innovative, and impactful career choices that can shape the nation’s development. This perspective is crucial in broadening students’ understanding of the diverse and rewarding professional landscapes available beyond traditional academic routes.
