The Ghana Police Service has arrested four students from Ada Senior High Technical School following the circulation of a viral video depicting a student brandishing a cutlass and issuing threats to peers on campus. The incident, which prompted an immediate police response, has raised concerns about student safety and discipline within educational institutions.
Police Respond to Viral Video
The disturbing footage came to the attention of the police around 12:10 a.m. on May 22, 2026. A statement released by Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Region, confirmed that a night patrol team was dispatched to the school promptly after the video began circulating on social media platforms.
Working in collaboration with school authorities, police officers identified and apprehended four individuals featured in the video. These include 18-year-old students Raymond Gyamfi, Oscar Amemoair, and Odartey Wilson, along with one unidentified juvenile suspect.
Investigation Underway
The arrested students are currently in police custody and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The Ghana Police Service has emphasized its commitment to thoroughly examining the circumstances surrounding the incident to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.
Authorities are using this incident as a platform to reinforce messages about conflict resolution. The police have urged students to utilize established school channels for addressing disagreements peacefully, rather than resorting to violence or intimidation tactics.
