Ghana has significantly ramped up its national Ebola preparedness and response plan in response to escalating outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda. This proactive measure aims to ensure the swift detection and containment of any potential imported cases within its borders.
Strengthened Surveillance and Response Systems
Dr. Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe, Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), confirmed that the country has reinforced its surveillance, laboratory testing, case management, and infection prevention and control systems. These enhancements are designed to identify and manage any suspected Ebola cases rapidly.
