The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Kenneth Ashigbey, has proposed leveraging National Service personnel for geological exploration and mapping to bolster Ghana’s extractive sector and enhance the value derived from its natural resources. This suggestion emerged during a recent JoyBusiness Roundtable discussion focused on transforming Ghana’s approach to mining and critical minerals.

Mr. Ashigbey argued that deploying the annual cohort of National Service personnel into field-based exploration activities could significantly improve data generation and resource identification across the nation. This initiative aims to build a more robust foundation for Ghana’s mining industry.
