Ghana Launches 'Blue Day' Campaign to Combat Rising Sports Trafficking

Accra, Ghana – The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), in collaboration with the International Justice Mission (IJM), has launched a national media campaign in Accra on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to combat the escalating issue of human trafficking within the sports sector. The initiative, coinciding with the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, aims to raise public awareness and mobilize support against the exploitation of aspiring athletes.

Human trafficking, particularly in the realm of sports, represents an emerging and insidious form of exploitation. Traffickers prey on the dreams of talented young individuals, luring them with false promises of lucrative contracts, scholarships, and international opportunities. These deceptive schemes often leave victims stranded, abused, and without the support they were promised.
