Ghana Tennis Faces International Exclusion Amidst Funding Crisis

Accra, Ghana – The future of Ghanaian tennis hangs precariously in the balance as a key parliamentary official urges immediate government intervention to secure the national team’s participation in crucial international tournaments. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, issued a stark warning that Ghana risks missing vital competitions if financial support for the Ghana Tennis Federation is not forthcoming, highlighting a critical funding shortfall that threatens athlete development and national sporting prestige.

Urgent Plea for Support

Assafuah directed his appeal to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, the National Sports Authority, and the Ghana Olympic Committee, emphasizing the urgent need for financial assistance. The federation requires these funds to cover the costs associated with sending athletes to upcoming international events.
